The Fundació Alícia (alimentació i ciencia) is a research centre dedicated to technological innovation in cooking, using traditional local produce, as well as encouraging healthy eating for all.
The foundation was created by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Caixa Manresa, and is directed by the chef, Ferran Adrià, with the advice of the cardiologist, Valentí Fuster.
Alícia is a point of reference in the area of gastronomic research, dedicated to increasing social awareness about the cultural and educational importance of food. Thus, it is at once a place where ideas about food and its preparation are generated, a stimulating, sensory experience that combines tradition and innovation, and a project firmly committed to its heritage.
Alícia is structured upon two principal foundations; namely:
-Health and nutrition, both of which underpin Alícia’s social purpose of actively improving the eating habits of our society.
-Gastronomic and scientific research, with the support of the best cooks and with the aim of improving the level and the reputation of our cuisine.
