During some time, el Monestir lived years of decadence. But in 1907, the family of the prestigious painter Ramon Casas acquired the complex and asked architect Josep Puig i Cadalfach to restore it.

Thanks to this restoration, el Monestir that during years had been abandoned, received the influence of modernism.

The restoration works of that period intended to preserve the purity of Romanic architecture. Today, thanks to the reconstruction of the building conducted by caixaManresa, el Monestir has retrieved the stylistic consistency that had been lost through the centuries.
